The two strongest contenders for the world cup, Argentina and Germany, will lock horns against each other in one of the most anticipated matches of the world cup.

Argentina and Germany will tackle each other in one of the most enthralling quarter final of world cup 2010 on Saturday in Green Point Stadium, Cape Town. This tie is expected to be the tie of the tournament as both the teams are performing at their best. Germany and Argentina, both would like to combine their attacking flair with defensive solidity if they want to overcome each other.

Argentina is undefeated in the tournament so far and would like to continue its winning streak against the Germans. Argentina is on a high as it has already grabbed eight goals under its belt. On the other hand, the German squad has shown the ability and talent to defeat any international team in the world. The Germans have proved themselves as an attacking unit as they have already raised their goal tally to nine.

Argentina‘s aspirations rely a lot on the world’s best player Lionel Messi, the Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain and the former Manchester United star Carlos Tevez. Lionel Messi has not scored a single goal in the tournament so far but he has contributed in almost all the goals they have scored. Gonzalo Higuain, a strong contender for the Golden Boot looks in great form as he has already scored four goals including a hatrick against South Korea. Carlos Tevez looked good in his last game against the Mexicans as he was successful in netting the ball twice. The Argentine defender, Gabriel Heinze’s tackling skills and his headers would play an important role in the crucial tie against the Germans.

Joachim Low’s Germany has young and talented players in its squad who proved good enough to defeat the all star English team in the round of 16. A lot depends on Mesut Oezil, Thomas Mueller, Miroslav Klose and Lukas Podolski, if the Germans wish to break the strong and solid Argentine defense. All the eyes around the world would be locked on Mesut Ozeil, one of the youngest players of the tournament. He has been gifted the pace, control and accuracy which is capable of creating holes in any defense. Germany would be expecting some great finishes from their one of the most experienced player in the side, Miroslav Klose.

As both the teams have shown positive and attacking attitude towards the game, the match is expected to turn out into a high scoring game. It is just a matter of time before a hair-raising encounter would decide the third semi-finalist of the world cup. Just wait and watch.

Footkey Prediction:

It is really hard to choose between the two sides as both the teams look in outstanding form. But still looking at the experience and current play of both the teams, Diego Maradona’s Argentina stands favorite to win the match.
