Spain beat Germany 1-0 in the World Cup semi-finals at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban
Carles Puyol’s 73rd minute header secured Spain’s first World Cup finals appearance ever since the tournament started in 1930. This was Spain’s fourth straight 1-0 victory in the World Cup and Vicente del Bosque is now eying the most prestigious cup in football.
Germany managed only two shots on target whereas Spain had five and converted one of them, which proved to be the only goal of the match.
This is the fourth time Germany have lost in the semi-finals but have a very young squad that will be matured for the next World Cup in Brazil. Miroslav Klose and Thomas Müller end the world cup in South Africa with four goals each.
Spain now face Netherlands in the World Cup finals at Soccer City, Johannesburg on 11th of July as for Germany they meet Uruguay on the 10th of July in Port Elizabeth for the third and fourth place-offs.
