Spain Holland World Cup Head To Head Record

Holland will play Spain in the FIFA World Cup finals in Soccer City, Johannesburg 
 
Neither Holland nor Spain have ever won the World Cup before.But the Dutch have appeared twice in a final, whereas Spain have clinched fourth place in 1950.  
 
The Netherlands in the FIFA World Cup Finals:
 
It is always said that nobody remembers the loosing semi-finalist but it hurts even more when you lose a World Cup finals. The Netherlands got beaten twice in the finals, the first time in 1974 against West Germany and then in 1978 against Argentina.
 
Spain in the FIFA World Cup Finals:
 
This is the first time ever in country history that Spain have reached the finals. In 1950, the Spanish had a great run of form beating England 1-0, the United States 3-1 and Chile 2-0 to go top of Group B.
 
1950 Final round Group Stage:
 
In the Final round Spain were placed against Uruguay, Brazil and Sweden with the winners of the group to be crowned champions. In their first fixture Spain drew 2-2 against eventual winners Uruguay but lost to Sweden and got thrashed by Brazil 6-1. Spain ended bottom of the group finishing the fourth best country in the world.
 
 
Spain Vs The Netherlands Head To Head record:
 
The Netherlands and Spain have never met each other in the World Cup and on the 9th of July history will be made as the two nations go head to head for the first time in the World Cup.  But Spain and Holland have met thrice in other competitions before.
 
The 1920 Summer Olympics (Games of the VII Olympiad)
 
On 5th September 1920 Summer Olympics Antwerp in Belgium , Spain met their European counterparts  Netherlands . Spain won the match 3-1 with a Felix Sesumaga scoring two goals (7th and 35th minutes ) and  Rafael Moreno Aranzadi scoring the third. Ber Groosjohan scored for the Dutch but Spain were victors on that particular fixture.
 
European Championship:
 
On February 16, 1983 Spain clashed with The Netherlands in a European Championship for the group stages qualifiers. Juan Antonio Senor’s penalty was enough to decide the match and Spain won 1-0.
 
In the return leg, Netherlands beat Spain 2-1 with Peter Houtman scoring for the Dutch in  26th minute of the match. Carlos Alonso Gonzalez equalized for Spain but Ruud Gullit settled scores with a winner in the 63rd minute.
